LET'S EXPLORE: Kingsbrae Garden

Kingsbrae Garden is a place where you can escape everyday life and enter into an enchanting world of tranquility and breathtaking natural beauty. A visit to Kingsbrae Garden is an unforgettable experience, from the moment that you arrive and drink in the splendor of the white garden until the moment that you leave and bid farewell to this elegant "horticultural masterpiece".

The expansive grounds of this estate-turned-garden feature a fully-functional Dutch windmill, two ponds, streams, a cedar maze, fountains, a woodland trail, sculptures, animals, an orchard, a rose garden, a therapy garden, and breathtaking perennial gardens.

While strolling through the garden, the former estate of John and Lucinda Flemer, you almost get the sense that you have just stepped back in time to a more oppulent era. If your imagination gets carried away in the gentle Passamaquoddy breeze, you might also begin feeling as though you are perusing the English countryside in the role of one of your favorite Jane Austen heroines...Emma Woodhouse or Elizabeth Bennet.

We have toured Kingsbrae Garden many times throughout the years, each visit being more special than the time before. We are always pleasantly surprised at the beauty which is waiting for us in this well-loved, world-famous garden. It just so happens that our most recent visit (in June) was the first visit since the addition of the Sculpture Garden. We were very impressed!

Although you can manage to push a wheelchair with some effort through the grounds, Kingsbrae Garden is not fully wheelchair accessible. There were several people in our group that required a wheelchair and it was a bit challenging, particularly on the loose gravel areas and when walking uphill. However, for those who have mobility difficulties, there is a convenient cart with a tour guide available at no charge. This is something that you would need to pre-book.

Kingsbrae Garden offers something for all ages. It is a must-see, must-visit for both young and old alike. It is located at 220 King Street in the coastal resort town of Saint Andrews By-The-Sea. For many, it is one of the highlights of their visit to this town. There is a cafe, gallery, and gift shop on location for added enjoyment.
