LET'S SHOP: Bates Landing/U-Pick

The blue waters, the sandy shores, the boats, the rolling hills, the ferry crossing, the friendly people, the corn fields, the summer camps, the waterfront cottages, and the narrow roads are all of the things that give Belleisle its charm. It is Southern New Brunswick's very own "cottage country". If you have ever spent a weekend or even just a day there, you would probably agree that it seems as if time stands still in Belleisle and the long summer days and good times seem almost endless. By now, we are sure that our love for Belleisle is quite evident. We could keep gushing over it all day!

A few days ago, we jumped in the car, filled 'er up with gas, rolled the windows down to let the warm summer breeze blow through our hair, and cruised the back roads to Belleisle, NB. While there, we stopped at Bates Landing/U-pick located on Route 850, just across the road from the Belleisle ferry crossing.

Bates Landing, a small fruit and vegetable market, and Bates Barn are part of the Quilt Barn Tour. This market offers local produce, which is grown right there in Belleisle, along with another popular item....ice-cream! Folks love the ice-cream!! The fresh, local strawberries are also a favorite from Bates Landing. Hence, the words "Have a Berry Nice Day" on their eye-catching sign. If you'd prefer to be adventurous, go picking strawberries at the nearby Bates U-Pick (but be sure to slip into an old pair of jeans beforehand...'cuz it can get a little messy). Great fun for families!

If you are ever planning to visit Belleisle (and you really should be planning to visit!), make sure to stop by this charming little roadside market, pick up some strawberries, buy an ice-cream, and enjoy the fabulous view of the bay!
